Nelleke Van Deusen-Scholl is Associate Dean in Yale College and Director of the Center for Language Study at Yale University. She is Professor of Linguistics, specializing in foreign and second language learning, technology and foreign language learning, and sociolinguistics. Her publications include: a book chapter “Current issues in heritage language research”(2014), and journal articles “Heritage Language Learning and Identity”(2010), and “Online Discourse Strategies: A longitudinal study of computer-mediated foreign language learning” (2008). In March 2014, she organized the colloquium entitled “The Role of Foreign Language Education in the Context of Institutional Globalization” at the prestigious conference of the American Association for Applied Linguistics. She is coediting Encyclopedia of Language and Education, 3rd Edition, Volume 4: Second and Foreign Language Education. She also teaches a graduate seminar, Linguistics 564, “Principles of language teaching and learning” at Yale University. Some of her professional affiliations are American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, International Association for Language Learning Technology, and Modern Language Association.
